A county / state-mandated ban on outdoor burning
went into effect Monday May 1st and will last through Sept. 30.
The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including of leaves, trash, yard debris and storm damage.
The following counties are under the burning ban:
Banks, Barrow, Bartow, Bibb, Butts, Carroll, Catoosa, Chattooga, Cherokee, Clarke, Clayton, Cobb, Columbia, Coweta, Crawford, Dawson, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Floyd, Forsyth, Fulton, Gordon, Gwinnett, Hall, Haralson, Heard, Henry, Houston, Jackson, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Lumpkin, Madison, Meriwether, Monroe, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Paulding, Peach, Pickens, Pike, Polk, Putnam, Richmond, Rockdale, Spalding, Troup, Twiggs, Upson, Walker and Walton.
Failure to adhere to the burn ban may result in fines.
New Chick-fil-A location
to open in Rockmart..!!!
Zach Thomas is a Polk County native, who currently owns and operates the MacLand Crossing Chick-fil-A in Marietta, will open a new store in Rockmart at U.S. 278 and Chattahoochee Drive.
The new Rockmart location could open as early as this fall and will be one of the largest locations ever built for the franchise, mirroring the size and layout of a store located in Peachtree City.
The store will be located next to El Nopal in Rockmart and the Floyd Medical Center Primary Care location.
Rockmart officials have already approved the plans for the store.
A Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in Marietta is set to close in March…
Wal-Mart spokesperson Phillip Keene said the corporation has decided to close the grocery store — located in the Bellemeade Shopping Center at 1167 Powder Springs St. near the Cobb County Senior Wellness Center — at 7 p.m. March 3.
Keene said Wal-Mart is hopeful the majority of the store’s 65 or so associates will be able to transfer to one of the other eight Wal-Mart locations within a few miles of the closing store in the coming weeks.
Charles L. Hardy / age 82 / of Hiram, GA. …passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. He was born on December 3, 1933, in Dallas, GA, to the late John Pinkney & Simmie Beatrice Hardy, and was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Martin and granddaughter, Jessica Hardy. Mr. Hardy founded Hardy Chevrolet Buick GMC in Dallas in 1978 and Hardy Family Ford in 1985. His wife, Jeanette, is the Dealer Principal of Hardy Chevrolet in Gainesville, Georgia. Prior to that, Charles was a successful home builder, mobile home dealer and operator of Southeastern International Drag Way.
During the mid-1990s, Charles owned a NASCAR team and later partnered with Bill Elliottt to form the Elliott-Hardy Racing Team, in which Bill Elliott drove the #94 McDonald’s Ford. Later, Mr. Hardy owned a team NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series under sponsorship by Ortho.
Mr. Hardy was a 50+ year member of Bartlett Lodge #139 F&AM, of Hiram, and Yaarab Shrine Temple in Atlanta, He was widely recognized for his philanthropic contributions, especially to the Shriners’ Hospitals for Children and WellStar Paulding Hospital. Charter member of Paulding County Shrine Club.
Mr. Hardy was a life-long resident of Paulding County and cared deeply about his community, his employees and his family. That feeling of goodwill was epitomized in his trademark slogan…

Paulding County…On June 1, 2016 HOWARD SEWELL was reported missing to the Cobb County Police Department by his family. At the time the report was filed, he had been missing for two or three days.
On June 3, 2016 at approximately 8:46 pm the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of an unidentified deceased body which had been dumped just off of Marietta Highway (GA 120 East) behind the Gerber Auto Body Shop. The body was subsequently sent to the GBI Crime Lab and was later positively identified by forensic pathologists to be the body of HOWARD SEWELL. Forensic Pathologists further determined that the manner of death was a homicide. Since this is an active investigation, Detectives and Agents are unable to release any additional details at this time.
The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Marietta Police Department, and the Cobb County Police Department are investigating HOWARD SEWELL’S disappearance and homicide. At this time, Detectives and Agents are following up on leads and are diligently working to determine who all is involved in this crime.
